Puppy Party, Classes Cancelled May 18 & 25

There will be NO PUPPY PARTY or classes on Saturday, May 18th because of a full day seminar.  There will be no puppy party or classes on Saturday May 25th because of the Memorial Day holiday.  We apologize for the interruption and look forward to seeing you and your puppy on Saturday, June 1st.  

 

Ballston Update

wrench 411782 9841 120Unfortunately, renovations on the Ballston location are taking longer than anticipated.  Our new target date to reopen daycare is July 1st.  We are so sorry for the delay.

Desiree Lomer-Clarke and Melissa Bishop Certified by CCPDT

ccpdt-logoWe are pleased to announce that trainers Desiree Lomer-Clarke and Melissa Bishop have been awarded CPDT-KA certification through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers.

CPDT-KA stands for Certified Professional Dog Trainer - Knowledge Assessed. Applicants must complete 300 hours of client training before trainers are eligible for an extensive semiannual test. Certificants must demonstrate ongoing education and professional development to maintain credentials. CCPDT offers the only international, standardized certification for professional dog trainers that is both science-based and independent of any course of study.

With this accomplishment by Desiree and Melissa, WOOFS! Dog Training Center now boasts eight trainers that have been credentialed by the Certification Council for Pet Dog Trainers.  Congratulations Desiree and Melissa, and thanks for your continued dedication!

   

Rebekah and Desiree To Speak At Breakfast With Bullies

AWLA Pit CrewWOOFS! trainers Desiree Lomer-Clarke and Rebekah Klemm, CPDT-KA, are the featured speakers for the March Breakfast with Bullies hosted by the Animal Welfare League of Arlington Pit Crew.  Their topic is the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) exam, including how to prep for the test and what you and your dog can do once your dog has earned recognition as a Canine Good Citizen.  This is a FREE event, and breakfast will be provided.  Humans only, please!

Daycare is Full!

FullWOOFS! Dog Daycare and Boarding service is full. We are currently only admitting puppies from our Puppy Kindergarten or Puppy Basic classes.

We are happy to add you to our waitlist. We hope to reopen to all new dogs sometime after May 1st.  We will not be doing any new evaluations until then.

   

Big News! - Ballston Renovations

Wow!WOOFS! Ballston campus is getting a makeover!

WOOFS! Ballston daycare will be closing for renovations on Jan. 31st 2013. We expect that renovations will take 3 months and we will re-open for daycare by May 1st. 

During this closure all Ballston dogs are welcome to attend daycare at our Shirlington Location. 

We expect classes to continue with minimal interruption. All classes scheduled for the Ballston location will continue at Ballston.

WOOFS! owner Laura Sharkey and Private Training Director Ariana Kincaid have graduated with distinction and named Certified Training Partners by Karen Pryor Academy. 

Karen Pryor Academy for Animal Training and Behavior is an innovative institution committed to educating, certifying, and promoting the next generation of animal trainers.  Certified Training Partners participate in an extensive educational program culminating in a detailed assessment of their technical ability and hands-on skill teaching pet owners and training pet dogs. Successful candidates must complete the program, earn the equivalent of an A on each component of the assessment, and pledge to uphold the high standards and practices of Karen Pryor Academy.
