As before, all classes (EXCEPT Agility I and Flyball) will be handled by random draw lottery.

The schedule for the draw:

Draw opens to current students:  Dec 2
Draw closes:  Dec 8 (midnight)
Draw notification date:  Dec 16
Open registration for all students:  Dec 16
Payment due date:  Jan 3

IMPORTANT!: The agility draw entry form will be available on our website on December 2. All entries MUST come through our web page.

Winter Workshops Announced

WOOFS! Dog JumpingThree new workshops have been announced for November and December. Dog must have completed (or be currently enrolled in) a WOOFS! class.

Prepare Your Dog for the Holidays
Friday, November 22 from 6:00 - 8:00pm
The holidays bring exciting new experiences for our dogs: holiday guests, holiday decorations, gifts and presents, holiday foods… Teach your dog how to greet guests appropriately, to ignore holiday decorations, and to give back presents that weren’t intended for the dog.

Jumping Replacement Therapy - FULL
Friday, December 6th from 6:00 - 8:00pm
Have an enthusiastic greeter?  Is your dog so excited to meet new people that he just simply can’t contain himself?  Help your dog control that urge to jump up to say “Hello” with our Jumping Replacement Therapy.

Loose Leash Walking
Friday, December 13th from 6:00 - 8:00pm
Tired of being dragged down the street by your dog?  Teach your dog that it pays to walk politely by your side, and learn about management tools to prevent your dog from pulling you.

All workshops cost $40 and will be held at the Ballston campus.  Limit 8 dogs per workshop.  Register online or call 703-536-7877.

Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training PartnerWOOFS! Senior Trainer Erica Pytlovany has graduated with distinction and been named Certified Training Partners by the Karen Pryor Academy for Animal Training and Behavior. 

Karen Pryor Academy for Animal Training and Behavior is an innovative institution committed to educating, certifying, and promoting the next generation of animal trainers.  Certified Training Partners participate in an extensive educational program culminating in a detailed assessment of their technical ability and hands-on skill teaching pet owners and training pet dogs. Successful candidates must complete the program, earn the equivalent of an A on each component of the assessment, and pledge to uphold the high standards and practices of Karen Pryor Academy.

We are incredibly proud of this acheivement, and of Erica's continued dedication to world class animal training.

   

New Obedience Classes Posted

Updated classes include Puppy Basic, Adult Basic, Intermediate CGC & Manners, and Intermediate with Rally I and Intermediate with Rally II.

   

Ballston Reopens on August 1st!

clover100Ballston daycare is ready!  Daycare will reopen at the Ballston Campus on Thursday, August 1st at 7am and we are excited to welcome back all of our former daycare clients.  The new daycare space is located completely downstairs so we have a little less room available than before. This means that we are currently NOT accepting any new dogs at this location. We invite everyone to come and see our new space on opening day.

   

Desiree Lomer-Clarke and Melissa Bishop Certified by CCPDT

ccpdt-logoWe are pleased to announce that trainers Desiree Lomer-Clarke and Melissa Bishop have been awarded CPDT-KA certification through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers.

CPDT-KA stands for Certified Professional Dog Trainer - Knowledge Assessed. Applicants must complete 300 hours of client training before trainers are eligible for an extensive semiannual test. Certificants must demonstrate ongoing education and professional development to maintain credentials. CCPDT offers the only international, standardized certification for professional dog trainers that is both science-based and independent of any course of study.

With this accomplishment by Desiree and Melissa, WOOFS! Dog Training Center now boasts eight trainers that have been credentialed by the Certification Council for Pet Dog Trainers.  Congratulations Desiree and Melissa, and thanks for your continued dedication!

   

Rebekah and Desiree To Speak At Breakfast With Bullies

AWLA Pit CrewWOOFS! trainers Desiree Lomer-Clarke and Rebekah Klemm, CPDT-KA, are the featured speakers for the March Breakfast with Bullies hosted by the Animal Welfare League of Arlington Pit Crew.  Their topic is the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) exam, including how to prep for the test and what you and your dog can do once your dog has earned recognition as a Canine Good Citizen.  This is a FREE event, and breakfast will be provided.  Humans only, please!

Big News! - Ballston Renovations

Wow!WOOFS! Ballston campus is getting a makeover!

WOOFS! Ballston daycare will be closing for renovations on Jan. 31st 2013. We expect that renovations will take 3 months and we will re-open for daycare by May 1st. 

During this closure all Ballston dogs are welcome to attend daycare at our Shirlington Location. 

We expect classes to continue with minimal interruption. All classes scheduled for the Ballston location will continue at Ballston.
